Want to take Apple Music for a spin? A hefty price cut could make it worth your while.
Starting now, Apple is offering six months of its streaming music service for just $2.99. No, not $2.99 per month, but $2.99 for all six months. That works out to just 50 cents a month, a huge discount from the usual monthly cost of $10.99 for individuals.
Available to new subscribers
The offer is in effect until Feb. 27, 2025, so you have a few more weeks to take advantage of it. As is typical, though, the promo is available only to new subscribers.
As Apple states it: “This offer is for eligible new subscribers redeeming on eligible devices. It is not available for people eligible for a 3-months-free Apple Music offer.” If you’ve already tried Apple Music in the past, you won’t qualify for the new deal.

Be aware that promotions like these are set up for automatic renewal. When the six months are up, you’ll have to actively cancel the subscription if you no longer want it; otherwise, you’ll automatically be charged the regular cost of $10.99 per month.
Still, six months is a generous amount of time to get Apple Music at such a low price. Otherwise, Apple offers new users a free one-month trial to its music service, after which the regular cost kicks in. Such promotions are designed not just to lure in new customers, but to win over subscribers of Spotify, Pandora, and other streaming services.
Why is Apple kicking off such a tempting offer at this time?
The term “kicking off” may give it away. The deal comes as Apple is sponsoring this year’s Super Bowl Half-Time show with rapper Kendrick Lamar. Promoting Lamar’s Road to Halftime collection, Apple will serve up a first-look trailer, exclusive playlists curated by New Orleans musicians and NFL players, and more than 100 hours of Apple Music Radio programming.

You can listen to Apple Music across all Apple devices, from iPhones to Apple TVs to Apple Watches. Windows users can listen through iTunes. Even Android users can join in via the Apple Music app from Google Play. The service is also available on the web and through many supported streaming devices, smart TVs, and gaming consoles.
